his
site contains information for anyone interested in learning more
about the disease called Atypical HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome),
a rare but serious disease that affects mostly children. Atypical
HUS is classified as a kidney disease, but a syndrome always involves
more that one biological system. The three main systems involved
with this disease are a) The blood b) the Vascular system and c)
The kidneys. It is important to distinguish between Atypical HUS
another disease called "Regular" or "Typical HUS". While some of
the symptoms are similar, there are significant differences. These
differences are discussed below. This page is dedicated to all
of the children who are battling this disease. So little is known
about the disease, and we hope to raise awareness and funds in
order to find better treatments.
